Fainting





Loss of consciousness due to inadequate blood supply to the brain.

Identification / look out for:

Loss of consciousness usually temporary.
Pale, clammy, cold skin.
Slow pulse.


What to do:

Loosen / remove tight clothing.
Make patient lie down on his back and raise his legs
Ensure fresh / plenty of air.
If possible try to ease the patient's fall.
If patient does not recover in a few minutes seek immediate medical help / ambulance
Monitor breathing pulse and if required use Recovery Position


Do Not:

Feed by mouth.
Gag or put anything in mouth.
